Jayesh's Law Introduced to Protect Gas Station Workers

Private Members' Bill Introduced on Sep. 20, 2012

On September 20, 2012, I introduced a Private Member's Bill called "Jayesh's Law" to protect gas station workers. Members of the deceased, Jayesh Prajapati's, family were in attendance to support the introduction of the Bill.

If passed, the Bill, Jayesh's Law (Worker Safety at Gas Stations), 2012 would:

-Impose severe penalties on gas station employers who force attendants to pay for 'gas and dash' thefts out of their wages.

-Require pre-payment for gas before pumping;

-Call for the suspension of drivers licenses for individuals convicted of gas theft.

The full bill is available as a PDF below. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please contact my Queen's Park office at 416-314-6467

Family friends have established a Trust Fund to help out the victim's family. Please contact my office at 416-781-2395 for details about the Trust Fund.
