On Friday October 8, 2010, I joined OPP Commissioner Chris Lewis and Facebook Canada Managing Director Jordan Banks, to announce the launch of the Amber Alert Ontario Facebook page. I added the link to my Facebook, and invited 1000 of my friends to do the same. In just a few days, there are now nearly 75,000 members of the Amber Alert Ontario Facebook Page.
Thank you to everyone who has signed up for this very important initiative. Please keep spreading the word to your friends so that we can reach as many people across Ontario as possible, and do what we can to help in the search for our missing children.
As the Amber Alert Ontario page states, the Amber Alert is critical as it alerts the public of children who have been abducted or who are in danger. The first few hours are critical to saving abducted children, and the quicker we do our part to spread the word, the quicker we can provide information to Police to help them find an abducted child.
While it may only take you a few seconds to add the Amber Alert Ontario page to your Facebook Profile, it will have a tremendous impact on helping to get the information out to the public. For an abducted child, every second counts to help bring them home safe. So take a few seconds from your day today and join the thousands of Ontarians who want to do their part to help and bring our children home safe.
