Black History Month 2013 in Eglinton-Lawrence

Learning about the History of Black Music

On February 27th, 2013 I teamed up with Councillor Josh Colle to host our annual Black History Month celebration at the Fairbank Legion.

This year's event, "Roots of Black Music, from Africa to Caribbean to Canada", showcased a variety of  local talent including: Mrs. Letna Allen-Rowe as Ms. Lou, Toronto Rapper "Jaydahmann", and singer "Krystle Chance". Special thanks to York University Professor Ray Williams, who gave an in-depth presentation on the History of Black Music in America.

Thank you to everyone who braved the cold, wet, weather and made it a Sell Out evening. This was our biggest turnout yet! See you next year!
