We launched the second annual Ontario Jewish Heritage Month at the Lipa Green Centre in Toronto on April 30th. Keynote speaker Dr. Irving Abella gave a very interesting history of the Jewish community in Canada tracing back two centuries, to the War of 1812. The same night, the Ontario Jewish Archives unveiled its photo exhibit Being Jewish in Ontario: A Pictorial Celebration. The exhibit presents different aspects of Jewish life from a bar mitzvah in St. Catharines, to the Jewish students’ organization at Queen’s University, to a Hadassah Bazaar in Brantford.
I would like to thank everyone who came out to celebrate. It was a great way to launch this year's Jewish Heritage Month.
